A nationwide automotive services client needed to design and deliver a blended learning program on diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The program aimed to comply with the equal employment opportunity laws and regulations and to foster a culture of respect, belonging, and accountability among their employees.

Challenge

The client had an urgent need to prepare a training program that covered the topics of equal employment opportunity concepts, stereotypes, unconscious bias, diversity and inclusion, organizational values, and personal responsibility. The program had to be delivered in an extremely short time frame of one month and had to reach all levels of personnel in all locations. The program also had to be engaging, interactive, and informative, and to address the complex and sensitive issues related to diversity and inclusion.

Solution

I developed a 3-tiered blended learning journey that consisted of the following components:

  • Virtual workshop intensives via WebEx Meeting: These were live sessions that involved discussions, activities, and exercises on the key concepts and skills related to diversity and inclusion. The sessions were facilitated by experts and trainers who provided guidance, feedback, and support to the participants.
  • Series of interactive live webinars via On24 Webinars: These were online presentations that provided information, examples, and best practices on the topics of diversity and inclusion. The webinars were delivered by speakers from various backgrounds and perspectives who shared their insights and experiences with the audience.
  • Informative eLearning via Articulate Storyline: These were self-paced modules that offered content, quizzes, and scenarios on the topics of diversity and inclusion. The modules were designed with engaging graphics, animations, and voice-overs that enhanced the learning experience.

My Role

I was responsible for the following roles:

  • Project Manager: I managed the project scope, timeline, budget, and resources, and coordinated with the client, legal experts, trainers, speakers, and platform providers.
  • Graphic Designer: I created the visual elements for the PowerPoint presentations, eLearning modules, webinars, and workshop materials.
  • Virtual Classroom Producer: I set up and managed the WebEx Meeting platform for the virtual workshop intensives, and ensured the smooth delivery of the sessions.
  • Webinar Producer: I set up and managed the On24 Webinar platform for the series of live webinars, and ensured the smooth delivery of the presentations.
  • eLearning Designer: I designed and developed the eLearning modules using Articulate Storyline, and integrated them with the client’s learning management system (LMS).
  • Voice-over Talent: I recorded and edited the voice-overs for the eLearning modules using Audacity.

Impact

The program was successfully delivered and received positive feedback from both the client and the employees. It complied with the equal employment opportunity laws and regulations, while also increasing the awareness, knowledge, and skills of the employees on diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
